The whole Visalus/Body By Vi thing is really getting people carried away..
So I did that thing I do.. You know, looking things up, checking journals and science sources, and finding out the story..
The first thing I noticed is all the people promoting these products are "Skinny-fat".. Yes, they probably have lost weight.. But they all have flabby arms! None that I saw looked fit and toned, they all looked skinny and fat at the same time.. That's assuming they looked skinny at all..
So.. Off to their website I went..
Their whole premise is that you take one of their special shakes at least once per day, in lieu of a meal.. Then, depending on how much you want to fork over to their company, you add in a whole bunch of their brand of vitamins and supplements on top of it.. They do suggest you should exercise as part of your program, but they emphasize all the success stories that don't include exercise.. Interesting concept.. So, what on earth is in that special shake?
On to their ingredients list.. It's simply a protein shake that contains a multivitamin.. Ya really.. Nothing fancy.. Nothing exciting.. No amazing patented blends of anything that are supposed to do anything.. Just a protein shake with a multivitamin mixed in.. Feeling ripped off yet? It gets better.. If you look at the cost of their full-on premium kit, it's $250/month.. Ya really! Now for $250 a month I could have my amazing membership at the Athlete Factory, where I'd have professionals kicking my butt into amazing shape, giving me guidance and counselling along the way, helping me reach my goals on my terms, in a one-of-a-kind, dedicated facility.. Hmm.. Let me look at this closer.. Some non-miracle miracle cure, that is cookie-cutter trying to fix my problems by making me take a protein shake and a multivitamin, or some one-on-one attention, which works with me to figure out the best options for me.. I know where my $250 would be going..
But wait! Visalus also offers a compensation plan.. You can get your kit for free! The gym doesn't offer that! Nope.. That's true.. Unless I managed to become one of the best trainers out there, and scored myself a job, I won't be getting any money from the AF, and other than the occasional contest, no chance at a free membership either..
Ahh.. But lets move over and compare my options for a protein shake and a multi-vitamin.. Visalus says if you don't want to be a distributor, but you want your kit for free, you need to find at least 3 others to take at least the same package as you! Well.. I now need to convince at least 3 of my friends or acquaintances that taking a protein/vitamin shake is the answer to all that ails them.. Meanwhile, there are other options.. By sitting with a pen and paper, and comparing ingredients and contents.. For $175 a month, I could get the equivalent Melaleuca multivitamins and their protein shake.. Hmm.. So I'm saving $75/month on this "miracle cure".. But wait.. That's just assuming I want to try things the "Visalus" way.. Now.. looking at this further.. Purchasing just the vitamins and protein would mean I have more than 75 product points per month.. Which means I could be a "75 point" Preferred customer.. If I place my order by the 10th of each month, I can get 18% back every month in loyalty dollars.. Ya.. that's right.. Every 6th month I would have enough money to buy a round of the products for free! This is assuming I only want these products, and I have no interest in any of the amazing environmentally friendly cleaners or soaps or beauty products, or even any of the other health and nutrition products.. This would start after my 6th month.. My first 6 months of orders would include a selection of free products from the company of my own choosing (from a list of their favourites for each month).. Hmm.. Looking better already.. Oh and there's more.. Every person that I refer provides me with "residual income".. I get between 7% and 20% of every one of their purchases.. And everyone that they refer's purchases.. So.. If I get 5 friends to purchase about the same amount as me, I get that much money in residual income each month.. That's right, as MONEY.. If I only have one, I get the money for that one.. Not products, money.. So, if you were so inclined, and good at such things, you could actually make an amazing income just from sharing your success with your friends, and their friends.. ;)
Now that we're done talking dollars and cents.. Melaleuca uses higher quality protein and vitamins than the Visalus stuff.. I know it's true.. I've checked things out.. But you don't have to trust me.. I'll find some links to the science and include them here at some point..
And then there's those special patented things.. If we just stick to the multivitamin and the protein shake.. Here's a link to all the amazing stuff with the Melaleuca vitamins.. And we already talked about the protein.. But.. Melaleuca also has lots of other neat stuff.. Check out the Attain products.. These are products that are designed to keep you feeling full, and help you satisfy hunger.. (Calorically and whatnot, they compare to a protein bar.. And are a convenient alternative to having the protein shakes all the time.. Oh.. And there's a shake version of this stuff too, if you prefer to drink all your nutrients...) And for when you are working out, there's the Access stuff.. Here's all the info on what makes the Access products amazing.. Burning my fat instead of anything else while I work out? I'm up for that! ;)
So.. I've decided that instead of doing the "Body By Vi" thing, I'm going to do my own version.. "Body by me!", and I'm going to use Melaleuca products to help me with it..
