Just a note about recipe credits.. I have a thing for discovering random recipes.. I find them, I print them off, or scrawl them on a scrap of paper.. I change and rearrange them, and then forget where they come from.. So.. I'm definitely NOT trying to steal anyone's recipe in particular... So.. To that end, here is a list of the sites that I tend to go to for ideas and inspiration.. (Credit where credit is due.. If you see a recipe on one of these sites that strongly resembles the one I wrote, odds are it was where I started from..)
Non-web recipe sources:
My amazing Grandmother.. I managed to scribble down a bunch of her favourite recipes a few years ago.. I also had a few opportunities (far too few unfortunately!) to spend time in the kitchen with her, and learn a few tricks and secrets from her first-hand..
Appleton Estates Souvenir Cookbook, Appleton Estates Seniors Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba. 2008. This cookbook was compiled by the residents of the seniors apartments my grandmother used to live in. Though none of the recipes are directly credited to her, many are identical (or exceptionally close) to the ones she prepared. I use this book often, and have not found a bad recipe yet.. ;)
I also have an assortment of random clippings.. Things I've seen in flyers, newspapers, magazines and coupon booklets over the years.. Most of these have no provenience data, just the recipe (since that was the only part I cared about when I kept them..)..
